Skilled Visa Australia

There are three types of skilled visa Australia:

  • Skilled Nominated Visa (190)
  • Skilled Independent Visa (189)
  • Regional Sponsored Visa (489)

The process of applying for these skilled visas is as follows.

Step 1: Lodge Expression of Interest (EOI)
Step 2: Receive Invitation to Apply from the Australian government
Step 3: Lodge Application for skilled visa

NOTE:

  • All skilled visas Australia follow this application process.
  • All skilled visas must have Expression of Interest (EOI) submitted first.
  • EOI is a points based system.
  • An invitation to apply for skilled visa is sent to people who submitted an EOI with skills, qualifications and experience needed by Australia.
  • Application for a skilled visa can ONLY be made with an invitation to apply.

  • Letter of invitation to apply
  • Apply for an occupation on the correct skilled occupation list
  • Skills assessment for that occupation
  • Under 50 years of age (at time of application)
  • Achieved minimum score in points test for this visa
  • Competent English
  • Nominated by an Australian state or territory government.

  • Nomination by an Australian State or Territory government or relative living in a regional area
  • Letter of invitation to apply

  • Under 50 years of age (at time of application)
  • Achieved minimum score in points test for this visa
  • Competent English
